My name is Wilma Wishart and I teach students with learning difficulties at a local college. I first discovered Encaustic Wax painting in the year 2000. I attended a small workshop at a local art gallery and was immediately ‘hooked’. The paint used is called ‘Encaustic Wax’. Encaustic art is over 2,000 years old. The Greeks, Egyptians and Romans first used wax and primitive tools to produce pictures. Today, using small blocks of wax and various tools it is possible to produce amazing, unique designs! All my paintings are unique and part of a collection. They are all numbered and dated. One set is called ‘Guardian Angels’, while the other set is called ’Flowers of our Time’. I also paint fantasy and landscape scenes. I hold small workshops for groups of 5 or less students. No skills required – just enthusiasm! It is amazing what can be produced using an iron and small blocks of wax. I am also a local supplier for all Encaustic Wax items. |
